Is a ski rack better than a cargo box?

Ski racks are lightweight and convenient, but they expose gear to weather, road salt, and theft. Cargo boxes offer full protection, better aerodynamics, and extra storage space for boots or gear bags. Intrepid’s enclosed design shields your skis from the elements and secures them with built-in locks and heavy-duty latches

What length of cargo box do I need for my skis?

Measure your longest pair of skis and add at least 3–5 inches for padding. Most adult skis range from 160–190 cm (63–75 inches). Intrepid’s ITX190 offers an internal length of 84.8", making it a perfect choice for carrying multiple skis and poles without cramping or forcing a tight fit.

Will a ski cargo box fit my vehicle’s roof rack / crossbars?

Most cargo boxes, including ski boxes, are compatible with standard crossbars, but always check width and mounting specs. Intrepid recommends a minimum crossbar spread of 31.5" (ITX120) or 43.3" (ITX190) and includes all required stainless steel brackets for a secure fit to most rack systems
